Vandoren Traditional (Blue Box) Baritone Saxophone Reeds

Vandoren Traditional reeds — the “Blue Box” — are the most widely played reeds in the world, with a superiority proven over the years, and they suit all styles of music. The cut pairs a very thin tip, where vibration is at its maximum, with a solid vertebral column: more cane in the area that climbs gradually to the heel. That combination is what produces the exceptionally pure sound the range is known for.

    Key features:

    • Very thin reed tip – the area of maximum vibration
    • Solid vertebral column for stability and control
    • Excellent response in all registers, down to a pianissimo attack in the highest notes
    • Extremely flexible: legato or staccato across large intervals
    • Filed cut · Made in France

The baritone asks a reed to move a great deal of air and still start a note cleanly, and this is the cut that has answered that for decades. The vertebral column supplies the support the low register needs; the thin tip keeps the response quick enough that the horn does not feel slow under the fingers.

Product Handling & Resale Notice

This product is manufactured exclusively by the original brand manufacturer and is distributed by ReedFinder as an independent reseller and service provider. For analysis, measurement, and recommendation purposes we open the manufacturer’s packaging. Where a manufacturer supplies reeds in individually sealed holders, those holders are opened as well; some manufacturers supply their reeds without individual seals. In either case the reeds remain new, unplayed, and structurally unmodified. Before dispatch we close the box with a ReedFinder hygiene seal. While that seal is intact the box can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Once the seal has been opened, the right of withdrawal expires for reasons of health protection and hygiene. ReedFinder may apply a small identification label solely for internal tracking and database purposes. The application of this label and the handling required for analysis do not alter the product’s materials, construction, or intended use. Products may be delivered either in the original manufacturer’s packaging or in protective distribution packaging used for organization and shipment. Manufacturer identity, product specifications, and responsibility remain with the original manufacturer.
